Want to Know How to Lose Weight Fast?

Everywhere you look, people want instant gratification. Not that it’s a bad thing necessarily, but our society has made a premium of focusing on how fast things are achieved, how quickly websites load, how fast our cars and motorcycles go, how fast our smartphones are, and so on. Fitness is no exception. As a personal trainer in Austin for 22 years, I have heard over and over from people asking me how to get big quickly, or how to lose weight fast, for example. Nobody likes the honest answer, but it, like anything worthwhile achieving, takes time.

If I’m to answer the question of how to lose weight fast, I’d have to include a little asterisk that says full participation is required at all times. What I mean is that cheat meals, cheesecake rationalizations and justifications aren’t going to work, and drinking a 6 pack of beer after work is a surefire way to ensure you will not succeed.

How to Lose Weight Fast While Being Healthy

How to lose weight fast, is to clean up your diet and be very consistent with it. This could mean eating when you would rather not, such as breakfast, for example. It likely means that you will have to make healthy substitutions for your comfort foods and indulgences as well. Having a bowl of ice cream, whether or not you went to the gym, or did a 5 mile run and then had chicken and broccoli, is out of the question. If you are looking for how to lose weight quickly, then be prepared to be uncomfortable and out of your routine as portion sizes will have to be looked at as well.

Cardiovascular exercise, or aerobic exercise, is the best and easiest way to lose weight, shy of starvation, though that’s not such a good option. Getting up and going for a brisk walk, jog, swim, bike ride, etc, on an empty stomach is how you will lose weight, provided your nutrition is in order and consistent. Doing another round of cardio, when your stomach is as empty as possible, is only going to help you lose the weight quicker.

How to lose weight fast involves drinking an ample amount of water every day. The silly sweeping statements of everyone needing 8 glasses is just that. Silly. We’re all individual and have our own needs, but we are all, however, roughly 65-70% water in our bodily composition. That said, if you don’t consume enough of it throughout the day, you will retain it. Furthermore, if you have a carbohydrate heavy diet, good or bad carbs (simple or complex), you are promoting water retention as carbs force the body to hold water. Sodium can certainly promote water retention as well, so being mindful of what you eat will expedite the process. The best way to figure out roughly how much water you need is to look at your urine. After the first couple of the day, it should only have a hint of yellow coloring. Too much yellow, and you’re dehydrated. Too clear, and you’re likely overdoing it. The best practice is to keep a water supply around you, such as a water bottle, and sip on it throughout the day. More or less depending upon your activity level, the temperature, and so on.

How to lose weight fast, even when doing all the right things to help yourself, isn’t going to likely be as fast as you would like it to be. Things take time. You can deplete your water by reducing the carbs, or carb loading as it’s known, while increasing your water intake, but this is a temporary solution. Not a long lasting one. The best advice on how to lose weight fast, is to eat properly, do your exercise, stay hydrated, and be consistent with all of those things. Remember, once you take the weight off, you’ll have to work just as hard to keep it off, so shortcuts such as diuretics, carb loading, etc, aren’t going to do you much good beyond a few days.
